Different Types of Window Blinds
Contrary to most people beliefs, window blinds are not recent inventions. This information is incorrect. Window blinds have been in service for many years. There is evidence of their origin being Roman, also ancient China, and of course, worldwide. Nevertheless, the reasons for putting blinds in windows differed from one party to the other. Also today, there are different reasons why one installs window blinds in their homes.
Window blinds not only offer shade, but privacy as well. Window blinds are made from opaque or translucent material and not transparent. Installation of blinds helps one to keep the outside interferences at bay just by pulling them down. Window blinds also control the temperature of the room. One can adjust them accordingly and hence control the amount of air flowing in and out of the room.
The beauty of the room can be easily manipulated using window blinds. Since there are many designs and colors, one need to choose one that fits the room perfectly. The color of the blinds and their design can change the mood of the room completely. Window blinds also keep the unwanted outside like insects, wind, strong sun rays, dust, etc.
Different types of window blinds have their own different origins. The different window blinds that exist differ from each other through their designs Take for example blinds that have easily folded material or fabrics that are controlled using chains or preloaded springs. They are referred to as Roller Blinds. Instead of them having slats, they are fitted with a lightweight aluminum cylinder. This ensures that the material wraps up when the blinds are raised.
The next category consist of the Vertical Blinds. The name tells it all as the slats hang from the top to bottom. The material for making the slats varies. This type of window blinds are perfect for huge windows and sliding doors.
Other window blinds neatly stack into horizontal pleats when pulled. These have fabric as the main material. In the rooms where they are installed, they keep the temperature favorably warm. Thus, in those areas where the temperatures are low, or during the cold seasons, such blinds are preferred. These are the Roman Blinds.
Other window blinds contain only of horizontal slats and no fabric. These slats can be rotated and in turn permitting light to pass through. These are the Venetian Blinds. One advantage of these blinds is that the amount of light entering the room can be easily regulated.
Other blinds exist that can be installed either in open space or in windows. Huge spaces can be used effectively by using these blinds as separating barriers. They are referred to as Panel Blinds. These blinds are well installed in track system that moves horizontally. Similar to the vertical blinds, the fabric can move on either the left or right side by the aid of a folding panel.
